Studio Updates!!!

The studio is coming along wonderfully! My builder, Kevin Chandler, is doing an awesome job! The wood beams look great. The fireplace looks sweet. The hardwood floors and the granite counter tops are going to be awesome! I am so excited to get it finished so that my clients can have an amazing portrait experience.

Here are a few photos:

Tape, Texture, Stucco, Pellet Stove

Hello!
Apologies for not blogging in a while! We've been out of town! Tyler and I (Rhonda) went to Heber City Utah for a seminar. Oh, yes and baby Bridger too! While we were gone, a lot of progress was made on the new studio!

A picture paints a thousand words, so we'll just add some pictures now so you can see the progress for yourself!

Thanks for checking in with us!
-Rhonda

P.S. Tonight we are going to go see Seven Brides for Seven Brothers at Starlight Mountain Theatre! We saw it last week too. And next week The Wizard of Oz starts showing there! We have so much fun taking the kids there! There are so many fun things to do in this area! A few weeks ago we rode the Thunder Mountain Line. Someday soon we'll go Horseback riding at Idaho Guest Ranch, and try out the zip line tours at Zip Idaho!

P.P.S. So many of you have stopped by to say hello to us at the new studio!! We love to see you, and are thrilled to show you around. It's still a construction zone, but it is sure coming along! Stop by and see us soon!

Windows, Windows, Window!!!

SaaaaWeeeet! The windows are in! This is Rhonda blogging today. The construction guys have worked really hard, and the studio is taking shape! Today Kevin, Chris, and Jobie, worked... on some things, I really don't know what they did, but it's looking GREAT!!! They are awesome workers!

Emmalee and Bridger and I had fun seeing the latest changes. By the way, there is some great window lighting in the new gallery. "Gallery", that is what we are calling the new room. Tyler is telling me now that this post is getting long, so... goodbye!

P.S. I love Tyler! I am so proud of him for following his heart, and building his Dream Studio! It's so fun to see it actually happening! We've been planning it for sooooo long!

It doesn't look like much has changed

It doesn't look like a whole-heck-of-a-lot has changed in the last week, but it has! The electrical work has been done, plumbing, etc. The dry sheeting on the roof got done last night. We'll be putting up big beams in the next few days, to go over the "pop out". Stay tuned, that part is going to look cool!

It's Taking Shape

Yesterday morning the construction crew got the trusses hung. It's getting easier now to envision how the finished project will look. It's going to be AWESOME!!!

12 Foot Walls

It's coming along! We got more than half the new walls up. They are 12 feet tall! The windows (that is us standing in them) are HUGE!!!

Floor's Done!

The floor got done today. I helped a little bit. Found out that you don't want to get that BCI floor joist glue on your hands. That is quite the glue!!!

On the commute to work today, I couldn't help but be in awe with the green grass and the snow in the hills. Welcome to Idaho!

What the Hail? (and rain and snow)

Kevin and Chris were a little frustrated today as they worked in the rain and hail. They didn't get the floor put down, like they had hoped.

At least the hills in HSB are green!

Foundation and Floor

This is so exciting!!!

The New Addition

The Monday following the issue of the building permit, ground was broken, a big hole was made, and footers and stem wall were poured. Here is the progression.

Demolition

The day after the building permit was issued, Kevin Chandler, my builder, sent Chris over (twice my size) to start tearing down walls on the inside. Here are some before and after photos.

Building Permit

By mid-March, the architects had finished with their drawings, and it was time to apply for a building permit from the town of HSB.

We won't go into the hassle that was (had to get a survey, and reconfigure the architect drawings, etc.).

The building permit was issued April 14th 2010, the day after my birthday. (29 years young - again)

And contrary to popular opinion - it is very difficult to get a building permit in the town of HSB!

Design Time

My architects, Jim and Jeff, from NeUdesign are the best. I had so much fun meeting with them and coming up with ideas and concepts for the new studio. Here are some pictures we took during our meetings, and here are some conceptual designs for the new place.
